Big Vox Marketing Inc. is the brainchild of Kathleen Reed. Initially founded in 1992 as Stygmah Design Consultants, the company realigned itself with the expanding scope of its service, rebranded, and re-launched in August 2009.
Reed is a veteran marketer and has been known for entrepreneurial activities since childhood. (Her parents got so mad when she opened a market in the basement at age 10 to sell all their unwanted stuff!) She has learned since then.
While attending the prestigious York University Design Studies program, she launched Stygmah a branding company that focussed on solving people's stigmas that someone's secretary (yes, that was the term back then) or cousin had created with this new-fangled desktop publishing software that was hitting the market, but no professional print shop could work with.
Boy, have times changed!
After securing numerous contracts interspersed with a full-time gig here and there, Reed went on to earn an international MBA in Marketing and Intellectual Property Law (Copyrights, Trademarks & Patents) from the University of Victoria, British Columbia, in conjunction with University of Illinois at Urbana-Champlain and Oxford University Law School.
After a few longer term contracts, which saw Reed leading the global rebranding efforts for a financial institution, and taking charge of the marketing communications efforts for an ERP software vendor and a telephony provider, it was time to get back to helping small business take it to the next level, which is what she loves.
Reed is a certified Targeted Selection Recruiter and is currently completing a certificate in public relations from the University of Victoria.
